The Orchids is located on the Mareeba Tropical Wetlands. Wild Nature Lodge is an exclusive, 3-room lodge only a 2 minute walk away through the bush. The Orchids can be booked alone, or with lodge accommodation. The venue is a spectacular, overlooking a lily-covered tropical lagoon, with all the amenities you expect for an amazing event. With 200 square meters of covered timber decks, unrestricted views of the Northern Australian wilderness and the setting sun this venue will literally take your breath away.
Come rain or shine your event can go ahead, with several beautiful locations for ceremonies. At 400m altitude the climate is one of warm days and cool nights.

The Property
A 5000 acre nature reserve with some of Australia’s most spectacular wildlife and landscapes, the reserve teems with wildlife. The Orchids Venue, the Wild Nature Lodge bush villas or even the entire Reserve are available for exclusive hire. We can even arrange a guide and luxury 4WD if you wish to explore. This is one of the few places in the world where you can book an entire nature reserve for yourself. Wide, sandy creeks, abundant wildlife and dramatic landscapes this reserve offers a stunning wilderness experience – all seen in true comfort.

Not only is The Orchids a truly spectacular event location, but it operates to directly support Forever Wild’s environmental and social goals. This means your money is giving you an amazing day and making the world a better place.
A sustainable venue
All bookings support local cultural and conservation programs. Profits are used to support threatened species on the Reserve, and enable local community development partners to run a wide range of activities.

With over 200 square meters of covered deck, a range of spectacular covered or open ceremony sites and drive-up access for the guests of honour, you can be assured of a successful day with no stress at The Orchids.
A dedicated dressing room and place to unwind
We know that even the most relaxed bride or family members need a place to unwind. That's why we have a dedicated dressing room and separate deck for brides, with an ensuite bathroom & shower. It even has its own fridge for ice cold drinks and nibbles, meaning you can truly unwind and get ready for the main event.
Onsite and local accommodation
Wild Nature Lodge, located a 2 minute walk away, offers 3 x exclusive glamping bush villas on the Reserve for a truly immersive experience. These bush villas are ensuite, and even have their own deck and bar fridge. Contact us to book the glamping villas along with your function booking.
The town
The Orchids is only 20 minutes from Mareeba town, which provides everything you might need, including a range of accommodation options, great dining, caterers, decorators, talented local bands and diverse local attractions. In addition, Cairns and Port Douglas are only an hour's drive from The Orchids along some of Australia's most scenic coastal and rainforest drives.
